BESIEONE is the artist name of Marcel Wiegerinck (1973), an artist and photographer with roots in the Dutch graffiti scene of the late 1980s.
He started painting graffiti in 1988 under the name EAMER. Not long after that, he became one of the first four members of Eindhoven-based SOL Crew, together with ZIME, LEMPKE and WEASE. Over the years, his name changed from EAMER to BESIE and eventually to BESIEONE.
Although graffiti gradually moved more into the background, working with images has always remained a central part of his life. Marcel spent many years working professionally with photography, graphic design and visual communication, while keeping a strong interest in street art and the urban environment. Street photography and urban photography became an important part of that. Across all these fields, he kept coming back to the same visual elements: lines, structures, contrast, rhythm, typography, symbols and the mix of clean graphic forms with raw, spontaneous details.
Under the name BESIEONE, these different influences now come together in his art.
His current work is built around a strong graphic visual language and developed layer by layer. Print-like textures, shapes, patterns and image fragments are combined with spray paint, markers, Posca and other hands-on techniques. His background in graphic design and photography blends with the energy of graffiti and street art. Carefully considered composition, rhythm and balance sit alongside spontaneous marks, overpainting, repetition, imperfections and chance.
In his work, BESIEONE brings together graphic design, photography, graffiti, street art and mixed media to create layered, one-of-a-kind pieces where control and freedom, design and expression meet.
